Manistee River Report – Below Tippy Dam
Manistee Fishing Report Below Tippy Dam – 3.12.24
After last week’s rain, the Manistee is in great shape, running high with a nice green stain to it. Along with the higher water came a nice push of new spring fish. Pinch points have been productive spots to intercept moving fish. With water temps hovering around 42 degrees, fish are also starting to hold in buckets near spawning gravel and I’m sure winter holdovers have started to spawn.
Top flies have been bigger and brighter this week. Top eggs have been bright peaches, oranges, yellows, and clowns. Nymphs have also taken their fair share of fish lately with BTS’s and buggers being top producers. There are still stoneflies crawling around and salmon fry have started popping as well.
The extended forecast looks great and we do still have some open days. With a push of water and fresh fish it is a great time to get out.
