Now is the time! The Pere Marquette River is full of life. The trout are on the feed. Minnows, sculpins, bait fish and stone fly’s are the trouts food of choice right now. The egg thing is still going but dying fast. The last few weeks the trout have all been around the spawning gravel. The last couple days the trout are where they are supposed to be…. IN THE WOOD!
Also Drop back steelhead fishing is at its peak! Look to bait fish patterns similar to a smaller tied Flash Monkey or Parr None. The Steelhead are also in the lumber and the bubble lines behind the sticks.
The river is up and stained so be careful if you are wading. Its dropping fast and should be at a comfortable wading level by mid week.
We still have boats available this spring, list of open dates. If you want to get out fishing on the PM make sure you give Cherie a call at 231-228- 7135 to get your day booked before they are gone. Dry Fly season is here, we have openings for our Annual Dry Fly School, May 13th.
