Pere Marquette Fishing report for early May , it looks like the steelhead season has come to a end on the Pere Marquette. Drop back fishing the last few trips has been very tough. Main focus now is for trout.
The trout fishing remains strong on the Pere Marquette. With the overcast sky’s the streamer bite has been very good. Minnow patterns are the ticket. Smaller size streamers with small amounts flash have been best. Olive cone head flys also turning a few.
As far as the dry fly game goes, there has been very few fish rising. Blue wing olives, stone flys have been hatching but not many fish looking up.
With this rain look for the browns on the inside bends and behind any structure that is cutting the current. There are good trout living in some of the shallowest water. Riffle water has been producing some rainbows as well.
Get out and enjoy the warm weather! Be safe out there!!
