The Upper Manistee remains behind schedule with our cool spring. We could really use some warmer weather to get the bugs and fish going. As of right now we still have not seen any brown drakes. Isonychias started last week and have provided some solid days of fishing. In addition to the isos we are still seeing some mahoganies, cahills, and stoneflies.
On cloudy or rainy days, streamers can provide some good opportunities. Pretty much every fish of late has had chestnut lamprey on them. As such, smaller, slim profile patterns in black, olive, and tan are a great starting point. Keep shuffling through colors if you’re not getting chases.
