Born and raised in northern Michigan’s Leelanau County, David grew up immersed in a hunting and fishing culture. From a young age, fishing was a way of life for David. He grew up on his father’s charter boat as first mate. David was privileged to live his love of fishing and share it with so many individuals throughout his adolescence. Now he has made Leelanau County his permanent home once again. Dave is grateful to have made his long-time passion of fishing and hunting his career.
As a U.S.C.G. certified Master Captain he spends the summers sport trolling for Salmon and Trout. He’s based from the historic port of “Fishtown” Leland. Finds personal fulfillment in fly fishing and the inherent technicalities warranted by the sport motivates him. For this reason, he spends his fall and spring guiding with Hawkins Outfitters. He loves to share the skills of fly fishing with clients. As an experienced and avid angler he manages to be on the water (in some form) throughout the whole year. Fly fishing regularly draws David to the warm, shallow waters of the Bahamas. Sometimes west to Montana or east to Pennsylvania. When not fishing, David enjoys the pursuit of big game and upland birds in the West.
