Argentina Dorado Equipment List
You will be fishing in a tropical, jungle climate. Expect heat and humidity. Wear long pants and shirts for sun and mosquito protection. Normally the only time the bugs bother us is in the evening.
- Sunglasses (2)
- Extra eyeglasses
- Rain jacket
- Duct tape, small ½ roll
- Meds, Rolaids, vitamins, sleeping pills See #1 below
- Scarf
- Fishing shirts (4) See note #2
- Pants (2), flats or fishing pants (2)
- Fleece vest
- 2-3 evening shirts
- 5 socks/ travel shoes
- Capilene tops (4), lightweight, like t-shirts
- Fishing sandals (optional)
- Lightweight shoes for the boat. They should be able to get wet and offer sun protection, at least 50spf
- Chapstick with sun protection
- Shorts (2)
- Toiletries, comb, shampoo, sunblock, bug spray
- Small flashlight or headlamp
- 2 hats, fishing and ball cap
- Camera, charger, extra battery and cards
Roller Carry On,
This I carry essential items that I have to use if they lose my roller duffle. These are….
- Toothbrush, comb
- Rain jacket
- 2 reels
- 1 set of clothes
- Sunglasses
- Extra glasses
- Rain coat
- Hat
- Sleeping pills, vitamins
- Camera
- Rod Tube
Fishing Gear
- Fanny pack or fly vest
- Line cleaner
- 8 weight rods (2)
- Reels (2), loaded with 150 yds of 30 lb. backing and (1) WF Floating and (1) Titan intermediate, both 8 weights
- Forceps and nippers
- Boat dry bag
- Flies, they will provide
- Tippet, 20, 30, 40 lb. saltwater flourocarbon
- Stripping basket (optional, bring one if you like to use them)
- Bring a photo copy of your passport to carry with you on the river with your fishing license so you do not ruin your original.
Travel Stuff
- Passport, Global Entry card if applicable
- Airline tickets
- Tip money $50 per person daily for the guides, $25 daily for lodge and camp staff
- Extra Cash
- Luggage – Roller duffle to 70 pounds
Note # 1
I carry the following OTC and prescription drugs in case of problems….
- Zicam, in case a cold comes on
- Benadryl, antihistamine
- Z Pack, antibiotic
- OTC sleeping pills
- Cipro for bacterial infection
- Predinisone for swelling and allergies
- Promethazine for nausea
- OTC constipation and the diarrhea
Note #2
We will be able to get laundry done if needed so don’t overdo the clothes. What I have listed above will be my maximum amount, I may cut back if need space.
