Pine River Report
Low and clear water conditions in the area have allowed us to get out on the Pine River a bit earlier than usual. The water still has a nice green color in the pools and it looks great. This all has added up to some good streamer fishing the past few days with white, yellow, olive/rust, and black all producing.
As is typical with the Pine, smaller rubber legged streamers have produced better than bigger flies. Larger streamers do have their place and have also been productive in certain areas.
Nymphing should also be productive and larger, heavy stoneflies are always my number one producer.
The weather looks great and we should be able to continue to hit the Pine with the lack of rain in the forecast. Just remember, this little river does not handle water well and any decent rain event is usually enough to blow it out.
We still have days available to get out on this northern Michigan gem and we are one of only two outfitters with federal permits to launch there. Give the office a call at 231-228-7135.
